Gällivare skatepark is a part of a renovation of the central park Sjöparken and is located south of newly built ice arena. Skatepark consists of a bowl area that flows seamlessly into a street/flow area. The main entrance to the park is situated in the north-west part with seating area and small asphalt kickbike area. Landscape of the skatepark is adapted to an existing terrain. The bowl is placed on higher terrain towards the ice hall and is pushed in from the outer edge allowing placement of street elements (flatbar, slappy curb and bank hip…). On the other side of the bowl the existing terrain was lower which allowed a long bank section (hubba ledge, handrail, bank to curb, wallride…). On the south-east side of the park the height difference between flow area and the path is solved with a staircase along the edge that enables skateboarding also from the entrance to the Sjöparken.
